So many thoughts about what it means to us to live this way. Just cleaning for the tour gave me a flashback to my former life. I am thankful to have grown into this simple, organized life. It hasn’t always been this way. More on that later. . .
I did three different videos and decided not to post them. I would like to get someone to video the tour, so I’m not both tour guide and camera person–makes for a shaky ride. I’ll work on that.
For now, I’ve taken some pictures to share the tiny house with you.
Wishing you a week of simple pleasures. ox

You and your family are an inspiration and I am so glad you are blogging this! Ironic, that I am now living in a Big house – fortunately, it’s not mine.
Yes, but it’s oh-so-beautiful! I am enjoying living your journey through your emails. You are a kindred spirit, Miss Lora. We might see you out in Portland some day soon. My dear soul sister, Lorien, lives in Portland. Thinking of you often.

Hey fellow tiny housers! Love the new blog. Thanks for putting this out to share. As soon as our floor gets sanded and sealed we’ll have you all over for dinner. Peace
Hi Ricardo!
Do you guys have a blog? We gotta check it out. Can’t wait to see your home and visit with you.

To the simple life!
Cheers, Zum Wohl!
I love that you are doing this. I look forward to getting to know more about you guys.
Thanks for reading, Erica. I hope to get us all together soon. Tell your mom I said “Hi!”
Love it, been there, stayed on the tiny house “couch” for 5 nights and was very comfortable. Missing my “tinyhousefamily” I’ll be back.
You were the first tinyhouse guest! We love and miss you so much. Can’t wait for your next visit!

My 28th year of vandwelling
Inspiring. I think you are well ahead of the curve that many of us are heading toward.
Hi from another tiny house dweller! Not a day goes by that I don’t sigh and pronounce, gratefully, “I LOVE my tiny house!”. We have been in ours for almost two years, we love it.
Thank you for being brave, it is not easy to subject yourselves and family to the attention you will receive, but you are helping countless numbers of families and individuals.
Your house is awesome
Thank you, Debra!
I saw your video on faircompanies a while back and loved it! You make living tiny beautiful!
Enjoy the return of spring!
Hi. I’ve been intrigued by tiny houses for a couple years now but had put it in the depths of my mind only to be reminded of them again a few weeks ago. Life is more complicated than when I first fell in love with them as now there are four of us (myself, husband, 2 girls (3yrs and 8mo). I’d still like to live in a tiny house and LOVE that I was able to find a family doing it and SURVIVING! I’d love to hear back from you and hopefully ask you some burning questions of mine in regards to family tiny house living. My email is crystal.n.nick(at)gmail.com
Best regards and I look forward to hearing from you (hopefully)
Hi Crystal,
I would be happy to answer your questions! If you’d like to email me at tinyhousefamily@gmail.com, I will get back to you as soon as I can. Bear with me, as I am a full-time teacher, and only work on the blog on weekends. Thanks for your comment!

It’s so awesome to see you guys doing what you set your hearts and minds to. When Pappy told me that you guys were going to be living in such a “tiny house” I was like, how in the world are they going to do that with four people? Well, you, my dear friend, have proved me wrong. If anyone can accomlish this, it’s you and Papa. You two are an inspriration to a lot of people and are just, well, made for each other. We miss you guys tons here in good ole St. Cloud, but it is so great to see everyone doing so well. If you make it back sometime you had better let Brian and I know so we can get some Tiny House Family love.
Much love to all of you, Shawna, Brian, and Shawn.
I love this and that you guys are living this way! I would love to see the pics enlarged a bit with an explanation of where you guys keep your stuff. I’m trying to convince the hubs to do this so we can have our OWN place (currently live in one tiny bedroom-all three of us). Do you guys have a freezer? How do you grocery shop? I’m so curious and soooo gonna peruse your archives…
Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Dawn!
Thanks for your comment. Great questions!
–No, we don’t have a freezer. We do plan on buying one from Craigslist before this year’s harvest. We will keep it in the shed.
–We shop a couple times a week. We canned a lot of food from our garden and local farmers last year.
I’m happy you are inspired. Good luck!
I just want to say Thank-You! Thank you for going on Anderson and talking about your lifes. I’ve always loved the idea of a tiny house, an getting rid of all our unneccessary junk. We are a young family of 3, my partner an I both in our 20′s. An the thought of locking ourselves into a $3000000 mortgage turns our stomachs. We don’t want to work our whole life paying for a cookie cutter house, that we don’t love. I always want the freedom to be able to homeschool my children. Anyways, I’m rambling now. My point was, that after my hubby scene your family on tv, he stipped thinking that I’m crazy and he has jumped on the tiny house band wagon. I’m so excited. thank you for sharing your family story and being such an inspiration!
Love this! I have a few questions. . .
how long did it take you guys to build this? Alone or
with a team? Love the outside shell!
What size trailer did you use?
Hi Joy!
Thanks for taking the tour! It took us 11 months to completely finish the tiny house. This was while working full time and we threw in a move from Florida to Virginia in there! We built in on our own. The trailer is 8′ x 20′.
Best,
Hari
Thank you! Could I email you with more questions if I needed to?
We are seriously considering building one. . .We’ve been looking at travel trailers, but love that we could build and personalize storage to our families needs, and feel “at home” while in transition. : )
Thanks for you time!
Hi Joy!
I’d be happy to help! email us at tinyhousefamily at gmail dot com.
Best,
Hari
How much did you pay for the land? Your story is very inspiring!
We bought our land for $25,000
